Our Trustees

Athar Abidi
Athar is Social Media and Community Manager at Age UK, after spending over five years managing digital affairs for other charities, such as the British Lung Foundation and The Ramblers Association. He has been involved in Stand Alone from its inception, and has become fundamental in driving forward our online presence, as well as working with Student Finance England to generate more consistent guidance for estranged students.

Kandy Woodfield
Kandy works for NatCen Social Research as Director of Learning & Enterprise, and joined the board of trustees in 2014. Kandy has over twenty years’ experience of facilitating research into some of Britain’s most pressing social issues. She is working closely with the organisation to advise on research strategy, as well as shaping the charity’s operational objectives.

Reetu Sood
Chair
Reetu joined Stand Alone as a trustee in 2013, after identifying that more support was needed for adults affected by estrangement. She has been working in the charity and voluntary sector for most of her career, and is currently Strategy and Development Manager at Richmond CVS. Alongside her work in the third sector, Reetu is a trained counsellor and group facilitator, and a strong advocate of bringing beneficiaries together to break down the isolation associated with family estrangement.

Tara McInerney
Tara was one of the first trustees on Stand Alone’s board, and has been a key supporter of the work of the charity. She played a central role in the formation of our start-up strategy and partnership building. As a teacher, Tara is well versed in dealing with social issues, and feels passionately about giving individuals of all ages freedom over how they best manage their emotional and physical wellbeing.
